This luxury desert tour from Marrakech is for couples, honeymooners and families who want the Sahara with real comfort: a private en-suite tent in a luxury camp at Erg Chebbi, a selected hotel in the Dades Valley, dinners and breakfasts included, and a relaxed three-day pace, from MAD 2,500 per person.

What makes this Sahara tour luxury

The route is the same classic loop as our 3-day Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour, but the experience is upgraded where it counts: where you sleep and how you travel. Instead of a standard Berber tent with shared facilities, you stay in a spacious private tent with its own bathroom, proper beds and a quiet setting among the dunes.

The route: Atlas, kasbahs and the dunes of Erg Chebbi

Day one crosses the High Atlas on the Tizi n'Tichka pass to Aït Benhaddou, the UNESCO-listed ksar, then continues through Ouarzazate to the Dades Valley. Day two visits Todra Gorge before you reach Merzouga for a camel ride into the dunes at sunset. Day three starts with a Sahara sunrise and ends back in Marrakech in the evening. For background on the route, distances and road conditions, read our Marrakech to Merzouga travel guide.

Evenings at the luxury camp

After the camel ride you settle into your tent, then gather for a multi-course Moroccan dinner, usually soup, salads, tagine and fruit, followed by music around the fire and a sky full of stars. The desert is quiet at night and the experience is far more restful than a basic camp.
